Enhancements, Implants, Uplifts and Reductions. Not to mention injections. Ouch.

With so many options available to women, we could probably spend a lifetime moulding and reshaping our bodies on the painful journey to ‘Perfection’.

But would does Perfection look like anyway? It seems to me, a fictional destination. In that the closer you move towards it, the further it moves away. Whilst the critical eye of our society continually shifts the goal posts by discovering new flaws and then inventing ways to eliminate them.

What if we chose another path? What if our destination was no longer Perfection, 

but ‘Health & Wellbeing’ instead. What would that look like?
A place where we feel relaxed, let down our guard and remove our masks. 
Allowing ourselves to be free from expectation and the judgements of others. 
Reconnecting with our true nature. Feeling Happy and Confident in our own skin. 

Acceptance doesn’t mean settling for less. This is not to suggest we give up on our fitness goals and lay in bed eating cake (although once in a while doesn’t hurt). This is an invitation to consider our paths. Where are we aiming to get to? Which path will lead us to our desired location? And can we have fun along the way (yes please!)

The importance of setting and working towards a goal.

I've been thinking a lot about goals today. Not just about setting them, but also about working towards them and ultimately achieving them.

I have arrived at the conclusion that it doesn't matter so much what your goal is, as it does that you have a goal in the first place. 

I'll give you an example: 

A few months ago, I decided that I needed to work on my fitness levels and started to exercise more regularly, by going for long walks on my days off. By doing this, I also discovered that I really love being outside, surrounded by nature, visiting new places in my local area, and seeing the sights along the way. 


I was enjoying this so much that I decided to set a target; to lose a stone in weight by the end of June. To help me do this I began using a popular and well known fitness app to record and monitor my daily calorie intake and weekly exercise goals. 

The other advantage of using this particular app is that you can monitor the nutritional value of your food. Looking at how much Calcium or Potassium is in your diet, and whether you are getting enough iron amongst other things.

This prompted me to read up further about nutrition (another thing that I enjoy doing) 

Which in turn it has re-ignited my passion for healthy eating, and led to me feeling a lot happier and healthier during day-to-day activities. 



So here we are, nearing the end of June, I've lost 11lbs so far (only 3 to go) and I find myself feeling  listless and, dare I say it, even a little bored!

Apart from 'having the day off', I hadn't made any real plans for the day. I found myself going around in circles in my mind, not quite sure where to direct my energies and attention, so I ended up not directing them anywhere, which made me feel even worse. 

After a little contemplation, I realised I needed a new goal, something to focus on and work towards. I also realised that it doesn't have to be a big or life-changing goal. 

For now, I've decided to bake some cakes and enjoy the feeling of working towards something.

I think it must be true what they say; about happiness being a journey, rather than a destination!
